Out of the Way but No Regrets. You get a two for one experience at this location. Arkansas Post State Park is at the entrance to the National Memorial on highway 169. The State Park has a small museum, log cabin, and other displays of early pioneer life in Arkansas. About a mile up the park road is the Memorial visitor center. This museum. shows the long history of Arkansas Post and the role it played from a 1686 trading post to a fort on the Arkansas River during the Civil War. Scenic, historic, and nature walking trails and picnic areas are available. Even though the CW Fort Hindman is underwater today, the overlook tells the story and part of the old CW trenches where the land battle was fought have been preserved. For those interested, the oldest cemetery in Arkansas is only a mile or so up the Old Arkansas Post gravel road from the park.

It was wonderful! The sights and nature were amazing and I enjoyed walking the paths!
